Birtvisi canyon-one day hiking Tour

We are offering an adventure tour to the well-hidden Birtvisi fortress. Castle has located 60 km from the capital Tbilisi in Kvemo Kartli, Tetritskaro region, in the gorge of the river Algeti. The fortress is surrounded by high and rocky volcanic mountains which made it inaccessible in old times. Birtvisi is still an unknown place for tourists. Once inside the shady Caucasian oak forest, vertical cliffs rise up on all sides, some topped with 11th-century towers. An hour's climb enables you to look down on the forest and this unusual Cappadocian-style landscape. Some climbs require all four limbs on hard limestone and creep along with near-vertical drops so, not for vertigo sufferers. Definitely best in dry weather. Wetness on the rock can make access to the spectacular higher reaches tricky, even dangerous".

We will get to the village Partskhisi by car and then continue walking in the forest and narrow paths cut in cliffs. While walking you can adore the view over the canyons and Algeti lake. After walking for two hours we will reach the “main” fortress. We can climb on it to have a spectacular view.
