Задайте вопросHi! Is it possible to register for a hike in Kharagauli? We want to go from Marelisi Station to Megruki canyon and stay in the shelter. So, coming to Borjomi to register seems too far away and logistically inconvenient. So is it possible to register for the hike in Kharagauli?

Hello!
I have questions about routes in Borjomi National Park. Are St. Andrew Trail and Nikoloz Romanov`s Trail open for hiking now? Are they fully open for hiking? Is there an opportunity to get Marelisi from Likani Guard Station using Nikoloz Romanov`s Trail?
Thank you for your answer! Have a nice day!
With best regards,
Alexander Malygin

Hello, you can take a taxi from airport to Borjomi and back. However we don't know the rates and price of the transfers to Borjomi.
In order to book the shelters, you must visit Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park visitors center in Borjomi, https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/borjomi-kharagauli-national-park-visitor-center, and register and pay the entrance fee.
It is safe to hike alone in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park.
You can check information about trail here: https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/shepherds-trail
Dear Nino and Gaga,
We have some questions and we would love to know your advices.
1. We would like to hike in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park on October 19-20 Could you advice the best route for two-days hiking? (We planned to do the panorama trail, what are you thinking about this trail on these days?)
2. Is it possible to rent sleeping bags?
3. Do you think we will need additional sleeping equipment?
4. Should we book a specific tourist shelter for two-days hiking in Panorama trail? How can we do it?
5. Do you have any advice on how to prepare for the cold of the night?
6. Do you think that we should know about specific dangers related to animals in the area and dangerous plants? If so, how can we be more careful?
Thank you and best regards,
Stav and Yogev
Hello, I can suggest you to hike to Lomismta. its a 2 day hike and is very beautiful and nice hike. In total it is 34 km. Check the details here https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/lomismta .
2. you can rent the sleeping bags and hiking equipment in Tbilisi at https://campshare.ge/en , I highly recommend them, as they always have clean equipment and are always organized and attentive.
3. You will definitely need the sleeping pads, as the beds in the cottages are wooden, without any mattresses.
4. There is Amarati shelter on Panorama trail. You need to visit Borjomi-Kharagauli national park administration and register before entering the park. You have to pay 20 Gel per person per night for the shelter. Please dont sneak in the national park without registering, it is for safety purposes. regarding the trail itself its a medium difficulty trail. I was there on the last weekend and at night it was 6 degrees celcius. So my recomendations would be to rent the warmest sleeping bags, to wear warm thermal clothes at night. I think if it is not snow and very bad weather it is doable by the dates you chose.
5. Just wear good cloths and have warm sleeping bags. outside the shelter on Panorama trail there is a campfire place, where you can have fire. But please do not leave fire unattended and make sure when leaving, that fire is off, and it will not cause any damage or wildfire.
6. As i was hiking solo i want scared at all, the only animal i saw was a squirrel and lots of birds. I dont recommend eating the berries which you dont recognize and arent sure that its safe to eat.
In case of questions feel free to ask us any time.
Thank you!
Is the 2 days hike to Lomismta from Likani is the same track up and back? I mean it’s the same trail at the first and second day just in the opposite way, right?
Yes it's same track. But you can use another trail when descending, it's called Snow shoes trail. Look at this track: https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/snow-shoes-trail-10
thank you!
And what you think about the panorama trail? is it recommended too? more or less than the hike to Lomismta?
So if i was going to the national park, i would visit Lomismta trail now. as past few days have been very rainy, and it snowed in the mountains near the panorama trail. So definitely i advice you to hike to Lomismta. Also there is dears mating season now, and you might hear their roar on Lomismta trail.
Hi Mariam. Thank you so much for your quick and efficient answers. I hope that this is the last question :)
Do you know another place (not in Tbilisi) that is near Borjomi and near the national park where we can rent the equipment?
Hey, unfortunately I don't know any other rentals outside of Tbilisi :(

Hello,
My friends and I would like to hike in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park in the beginning of june. Could you advise the best route for two-days of hiking?
We would like to stay a night at Lomismta Tourist Shelter. Do we need to book in advance? Is it possible to rent sleeping bags? And what else concerning practical things do we need to know?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Pia
Hi Pie
If you would like to stay specifically at Lomistma tourist shelter and hike only for two days you should do this trail. https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/routes/lomismta
It would be better to book the shelter in advance (it is high season period) and you can rent sleeping bags at Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Visitor Center. You will find a water source near the shelter however you should carry your own kitchenware and camping stove to prepare a meal.
For booking of the shelter please contact through the emails listed above.
Hello,
My name is Ana. My husband and I want to do the Footprint Trail next Sunday and we would like more information about that:
Can we do the trail by ourselves without a guide?
Is there a cost to do the trail? If yes, how much is this and do we need to book in advance or we can pay there?
At the end of the trail, there are taxis or drivers to hire for our transportation back to Borjomi?
Thank you in advance for your attention and I hope to hear from you soon.
Ana Abbin
Hello Ana
Sorry for the late reply. There is no entrance fee, however, you should pay for an overnight stay at the tourist shelter or with own tent. You can pay at the visitor center.
You can do the trail without a guide it is very well marked and also you can download the GPX track from our site and follow it with a smartphone or any GPS device.
There are no taxi parking available at the entrance of the National park, however, when you will be visiting the visitor center you can ask for the phone number and order the taxi when you will descend back to the entry point.
Best Regards
Davit
Dear sirs/madam,
My girlfriend and me would like to hike in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park on April 29-30. Could you advise the best route for two-days hiking (up to 6h walking each day)? We would like to stay in Borjomi Town after hiking, so maybe it is possible to finish hiking somewhere near by?
We would like to stay a night at Lomismta Tourist Shelter. Is it possible to rent sleeping bags? And do we need to know anything else practical about our stay there?

Hello!
Me and my boyfriend would like to hike in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park on April 4-5. Could you advise the best route for two-days hiking (up to 6h walking each day) and accommodation options? We would like to stay in Borjomi Town after hiking, so maybe it is possible to finish hiking somewhere near by?
Thank you for your help in advance!
At the beginning of April in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, there is occasional snow on the mountains and it is still cold. I would advise hiking following routes: https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/routes/snow-shoes-trail-10 or round trip to https://georgiantravelguide.com/en/destinations/lomismta-tourist-shelter. Both of the trails include overnight stay at the tourist shelter which is equipped with a woodstove. The trails start and finish in village Likani which is next to City Borjomi and you can book any of the hotels based on your budget. You can ask the hotel to provide transportation from village Likani to the hotel.
Hello! Thank you for your answers! I would like to ask how could we book this Lomismta Tourist Shelter? Could you also maybe advice if anything specific should be taken with us for hiking?
You can book the shelter by contacting to the emails listed in the description. Apart from personal equipment you should take an axe with you. Firewood is collected however you should cut it to woodstove size.
