Chichkhituri Monastery

Chichikuri Monastery – Monastery is on the territory of Davit Gareji monastery complex.

History

Writing sources and scientific literature on Chichikuri are very few. In the description of the Gareji Mountain, Vakhushti Batonishvili says about four monasteries: Davit Gareja (or David Lava) has archimandrite and in Chichkhituri and Bertubani there is an abbot.

There is a remaining unique fresco painting in the monastery. Nowadays the monastery territory, together with Bertubani and Udabno Monastery, is controversial between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
