Iveria All-Holy Mother of God Icon Temple - a modern Georgian-Orthodox cathedral in the eastern part of Tbilisi, near Vazisubani, on the slope of Makhata Mountain.
History
The temple is part of a monastery complex founded in 2002. The construction of the first church of the monastery, named after Ioane, Ekvtime and Giorgi Mtatsmindeli, was completed in 2006. In 2010, the Iveria Foundation was established to build the cathedral, and its source of income is citizen donations. Its construction began on April 17, 2012 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Patriarch Ilia II, President Mikheil Saakashvili, parliamentarians and public figure Paata Burchuladze. The construction of the temple was completed in 2015, and the introduction of the shirt in 2017. In 2016, the road connecting Sameba-Makhati was built.
On May 12, 2019, on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the temple was consecrated.
