Metekhi King David Monastery

St. David the Psalter Cathedral is located in Tbilisi.

The construction of the temple began on St. George's Day, May 6, 1997, and was completed on St. George's Day, May 6, 2001.

The financier of the construction of the Cathedral of St. David the Prophet was Bigi Chkholaria.

On September 11, 2001, the day of the Beheading of John the Baptist, the temple was consecrated and the first liturgy was celebrated by His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. The temple was faced with Nichbis and Bodbe stones, as well as Bolnisi and Chognari stones. The architect of the temple is Revaz Janashia, the builders are Giorgi Beraia, Zurab Alania and Murtaz Khvistani. The painting of the temple, which was financed by the Patriarchate of Georgia, belongs to Lasha Kintsurashvili.
