About Writer-academic Konstantine Gamsakhurdia House Museum
Writer-academic Konstantine Gamsakhurdia House Museum is located in Samegrelo, in the municipality of Abasha, in the village of Dzveli Abasha (translated as ”Old Abasha”). It was founded in 1987. In the museum, there are exposed the memorial subjects of the writer, his manuscripts, photo-copies, biographic pictures, depicting his life, childhood, his masterpieces, and creations, from different periods, even his books and compositions, which were translated in different languages. Konstantine Gamsakhurida was not just a great writer for Georgian history, who had written wonderful prosaic works, but he also contributed his life to society, he was a warrior, he was one of the first, who created critics, publications. He was an essayist, a poet, a translator, artist, he developed historical-philosophical sciences in Georgia. He translated from the Germanic to Georgian Goethe’s “The Sorrows of Young Werther”, Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy”, Walt Whitman’s poetry, and so on.
