About Odzuni Monastery

The Odzuni Monastery is located in the village of Odzuni, Lore Province, in the Republic of Armenia.

The first church was built in the 6th century. In the 8th century, it was rebuilt by John III of Odzuni, who served as Catholicos from 717 to 728 and, as his name suggests, was from Odzuni. At that time, the church took on the current form of a basilica with three naves, the two side naves being narrower. The northern one has not survived.

The church has undergone several restorations and reconstructions. The last restoration was carried out by specialists from the Polytechnic Institute of Milan in 2014.
