The Ghrtila church is located in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, in Akhalkalaki municipality village of Ikhtila (formerly Ghrtila). It was built in 1308. The temple is built of hewn stone with an uneven structure. It is a free-cross type building in the layout. The facades are decorated easy, with cylindrical cornice stones, characteristic for VIII -X centuries. On the foundation stone, a Bolnisi cross is depicted. There are also several inserts with the cross images. The interior is plastered-whitened.
How to get there
The village of Ikhtila is 22 km away from Akhalkalaki. There is an asphalted highway leading to the village.
