About Zacharia Paliashvili's monument
Zacharia Paliashvili's monument is located on the bank of Rustaveli Street in Borjomi, in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. Zakaria Paliashvili is a Georgian composer, conductor, teacher, public figure and founder of the National Composer School of Georgia. He was born in 1871 in Kutaisi and died in Tbilisi in 1933. He received his higher education at the Moscow Conservatory. He formed a team of Georgian students in Moscow and was running Georgian folk music evenings. In 1903, he returned to Georgia and began an intensive creative, pedagogical and performing career. Zacharia Paliashvili worked in music school and Georgian gymnasium, also he was actively involved in founding the “Georgian Philharmonic Society”. His best-known opera is "Daisi". Paliashvili's creation is one of the greatest achievements of Georgian national culture. The Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi was named in his honor, as well as streets and museums in different cities.
