9th of April Park is located in the Imereti Region, Vani Municipality. There is a memorial to the victims of the April 9 tragedy in the park. On April 9, 1989, a peaceful anti-Soviet demonstration demanding the independence of Georgia was dispersed by the Soviet Army, killing 21 people and wounding many more.
