Mobile Operators in Tbilisi, Georgia: SIM Cards and eSIMs

Category: Information

Compare Magti, Silknet and Cellfie for mobile internet in Tbilisi and across Georgia. All three offer physical SIM cards and eSIMs, so you can choose the option that suits your phone, itinerary and length of stay.

Updated: 22 October 2026. Prices below are examples from the operators’ official websites on this date, in Georgian lari (GEL). Offers can change; check the final price and conditions before paying.

Georgia’s mobile operators

Magti (Magticom)

Magti offers prepaid mobile service, physical SIM cards and eSIMs. You can manage your number and packages through MyMagti. Its published data options include 5,000 MB for 12 GEL, valid for 30 days, plus promotional unlimited internet for 10 GEL for 7 days or 35 GEL for 30 days. Check the promotion and usage conditions when choosing a package.

Magti lists a 10 GEL eSIM activation fee. Its Georgian FAQ confirms that you can obtain a new eSIM number from abroad through MyMagti. The eSIM fee and the internet package are separate purchases unless an offer explicitly includes both.

Silknet (Geocell)

Silknet provides mobile service associated with the Geocell name and sells eSIMs through its website. Its tourist range currently includes Tourist: unlimited data, 30 local minutes and unlimited local SMS for 15 GEL for 7 days. Tourist Unlimited costs 30 GEL for 15 days and includes unlimited data, local calls and local SMS, plus 30 international minutes to eligible destinations. Call exclusions and package conditions apply.

These tourist packages are for individual subscribers and renew automatically when the renewal conditions are met. Check the total at checkout: the number and SIM/eSIM charges may be additional.

Cellfie Mobile (formerly Beeline)

The operator previously known as Beeline in Georgia now uses the Cellfie brand. It offers physical SIM cards, eSIMs and mobile packages managed through MyCellfie. Its eSIM page lists a 1 GEL eSIM fee; a current data-only example is 5 GB for 7 GEL, valid for 30 days. The data package is charged separately.

For a Georgian mobile number, use Cellfie’s local eSIM purchase flow. Check the destination and inclusions carefully if you instead choose a product labelled “Travel eSIM.”

What do you need to buy a SIM or eSIM?

Have your passport or another identity document accepted by the operator ready. Buying online can include identity verification; buying an eSIM does not remove registration requirements. Your phone must be unlocked for use with other operators. For an eSIM, check support for your exact device model and regional version before paying.

Compare the complete cost: number, SIM/eSIM issuance and the package you want. Confirm whether calls and SMS are included, whether the package renews automatically, and what happens when its data or validity runs out. The examples above are different products, not a like-for-like ranking.

Installing an eSIM and using it on arrival

An eSIM is a digital SIM downloaded onto a compatible phone. Connect to reliable Wi-Fi, open the phone’s SIM or mobile-data settings, and follow the operator’s QR-code or direct-installation instructions. Keep the QR code private and follow the provider’s rules before deleting or moving an eSIM.

Buying a number, installing the eSIM, connecting to the network and starting a data package are separate steps. Magti explicitly allows purchasing a new eSIM number from abroad. Before relying on any operator’s eSIM for arrival, confirm whether installation and first activation can be completed in your current country, and when the package’s validity begins. Do not assume the countdown starts only when you land.

After arrival, select the Georgian SIM/eSIM for mobile data and check that the intended package is active. A domestic Georgian package does not automatically include service abroad; roaming has separate terms. If you keep your home SIM enabled, review its roaming settings to avoid unintended charges.

Coverage, top-ups and where to buy

Choose coverage for your actual route, especially for mountain villages and hiking areas. Check the operator’s coverage information and ask your accommodation about reception locally. 4G/LTE and 5G availability depends on the network, location and phone; an eSIM itself does not improve the signal. Download useful maps before heading into areas with limited reception.

Use MyMagti, MySilknet or MyCellfie to check balances, buy packages and review renewal settings. Adding credit and activating a data package are not always the same action: verify that your chosen package is active before using mobile data.

You can also buy a SIM or ask for setup help at an official service centre. Magti advertises Welcome SIM packages at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports; compare their inclusions and validity with ordinary prepaid offers.

Official locations: Magti offices · Silknet service centres · Cellfie shops.

To our knowledge, any GSM phone will have no problem operating in Georgia. One of the operators Magticom is operated in the following frequencies:
GSM (2G &2.5G - 900 and 1800 MHz);
UMTS & HSPA+ (3G and 3.5G 900 and 2100);
LTE (4G and 4.5G. 800 1800 MHz).

Hi Ucha, I have read your articles and answers to other people of traveling in Georgia.
But I still got some questions about skiing in mestia.
Can I ask here or write email to you? if yes, give me a response via 386732572@qq.com.

Questions:
we are snowboard lover from China and are interested in Mestia ski resort. And we are planning to visit and live in Mestia during the Christmas Week and celebrate new year there.

First we need your help for more detail information:

1. Is there any official website of Svaneti Ski Resort(like the website of Gudauri Ski Resort)??

2. When we arrive at Tbilis Air Port, how can we get to Mestia ?
Is there any official traffic bus, shuttle bus and ski bus or train that we can take?
Or only by taxi? but 540km.....

3. Is there any skibus or shuttle bus from where to Hatsvali ,or Tetnuldi ski resort?

4. According to Gudauri ski resort's official website: https://www.gudauri.info/about_gudauri/#skipass,
there is a season card that not only can be used in Gudauri but also in Svaneti Ski Resort.
But can I also buy this season card in Svaneti ski resort and also use it in Gudauri?

Thank you very much in advance.
