ჭალაათის მყინვარი

Chalaati Glacier is a complex valley glacier in Georgia, in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, in the Mestia municipality. It is located on the southern slope of the Main Range of the Svaneti Caucasus, at the head of the right tributary of the Mulkhri River - Mestiachala.

The height of the tongue of the Chalaati Glacier is 1850 meters above sea level. Chalaati is the only glacier that cuts through the forest zone. The glacier is fed by streams from peaks over 4000 meters high: Ushba, Bzhedukhi, Chatini and Dalakori.

The distance from the center of Mestia to Chalaati Mkhinavari is 15 km in total.

The starting point is located 12 km from the center of Mestia, it can be reached by any type of vehicle, although most of the road is dirt. The road follows the Mestiachala Gorge and ends at the beginning of the Chalaati Gorge, from where the hiking trail begins, at 1670 meters above sea level. The length of the trail, one way, is 3 km. The first 2 kilometers follow the forest zone, and the last 1 km passes through rocky terrain and ends at 1950 meters above sea level, at the beginning of the glacier. The elevation gain is 280 meters.
