Chiatura Local Lore Museum

Chiatura Museum of Local Lore is a historical museum in the city of Chiatura, Georgia.

The museum preserves the fossilized bodies of animals that lived in water before the Ice Age, namely the fossilized shark skeleton, mollusks, turtles, fish, shells, and others. Among the exhibits are stone and bone working and combat tools discovered as a result of archaeological excavations in the territory of Chiatura Municipality, bronze axes and spearheads from the 3rd millennium BC, as well as women's bronze jewelry: bracelets, earrings, buckles, pins, beads, and others.

The feudal period in the museum is represented by clay pipes for water supply, clay vessels, medieval Georgian warrior's combat equipment, as well as Persian and Ottoman weapons. The museum has a separate corner dedicated to church items, among which the "Apostolic" copied in the printing house of Vakhtang VI is noteworthy. A fragment of the door of the Mgvimevi nunnery, which dates back to the second half of the 13th century, is noteworthy.

Also kept are numismatic and ethnographic materials; paintings and applied art works by local artists, and photographs. A corner of the development of the manganese industry from the beginning of production to the present day has been arranged.
