About Dashbashi
Dashbashi, Tashbashi (historical name Akhalkalaki) is a village in Kvemo Kartli region, Tsalka municipality. It is located on Chochiani plateau, 1500 meters above sea level, 2.5 km from Tsalka. Akhalkalaki is the old Georgian name of Dashbashi. It was the royal place for Trialeti dukes and the rulers of Sabaratiano.
Sightseeing:
• "Free Cross" type domed church of St. George. According to the inscription, X-XI centuries, it was built by order of Eristavi( Georgian Duke) Rati. The building is quite damaged. Only fragments of cornice are kept from the dome of the church.
•The Church of St. Mary is a church without a dome, built with hewn stone. From the fragments of Asomtavruli (the oldest Georgian alphabet) texts it is clear that it was also built during the reign of Rati Eristavi.
