Motena Cave

Motena Cave is located in Samegrelo, Martvili Municipality, near the village of Balda, at 570 meters above sea level. It is a two-story cave with a permanent stream flowing into the Abasha River. Motena Cave is famous for its beauty and variety of drip formations - here you can find stalactites, stalagmites, travertine cascades, drapery formations and much more. A limestone wall with loopholes is erected here, which was used as a fortress in the Middle Ages. Motena Cave is one of the most impressive and unique natural monuments in Samegrelo.
