The Upper Tmogvi Church is located in Samtskhe-Javakheti, in the village of Zeda Tmogvi, Aspindza Municipality.
The church is built of well-polished gray stone, roofed with louvered roofs. The high and wide central nave is separated from the Gevrdas by three arches each supported by two pairs of pillars. On the south facade there is an entrance decorated with carvings and inscriptions set in a rectangular frame. The southern wall of a small hall church of the 8th–9th centuries with an entrance is incorporated into the northern wall of the basilica. One of the inscriptions on the basilica indicates that it was built by the son of Iovane Chimchimeli, the Eristav-Eristav Parsman, and the inscription mentions Prince Bagrat and Queen Mariam Artsruni. The monument shows signs of several restorations and alterations.
Nosha's inscription on the southern facade of the temple (11th century)
