Where is Tetnuldi Ski Resort?

Tetnuldi ski resort is located on the slopes of Svaneti Caucasus mountain range, in the municipality of Mestia, Zemo Svaneti. Tetnuldi is the second largest ski resort in Georgia, after Gudauri. The maximum elevation of ski tracks is 3165, and the minimum elevation is 2260 meters MSL. Tetnuldi is 15 Km away from Mestia and the average time of transportation is 1 hour.

How to go to Tetnuldi Ski Resort?

The first way to reach Tetnuldi resort is going to Mestia, which is far, 475 km away from Tbilisi. It’s possible to go to Tetnuldi by cars or taxis. It’s accessible to book the flights in the direction of Mestia-Natakhtari-Mestia and Mestia-Kutaisi-Mestia also. The Georgian company Vanilla Sky carries out the airways. From Mestia to Tetnuldi the 4x4 car is necessary for the winter season. Beside this, it’s possible to take a taxi in the center of Mestia. Ski Tracks

The building process of Tetnuldi ski resort started in 2014, and the first part of it completed in 2016. Today, Tetnuldi resort continues improvement. There are only one restaurant “Tetnuldi” and several places for fast food opportunities. Travelers can hire the ski equipment there. The resort offers free parking opportunities to its guests. There is only one hotel at the resort, however, tourists prefer to stay in Mestia because of its close location from Tetnuldi. Mestia has a wide range of hotels and tourists can choose family types and high-class hotels as well.

Opening Season and Activities

The winter season is from December to April and the best time for skiing in January and February. Tetnuldi stands out from other ski resorts because of its longest winter season in Georgia.

Tetnuldi offers different kinds of activities to travelers: skiing, snowboarding, freeriding, paragliding, horse riding, heli-skiing, and ski touring.

The main slogan of Tetnuldi ski resort is “ Always new, deep and high-quality snow for the skiers who love freeriding.” The location of Tetnuldi and the views of the amazing peaks  - Ushba and Tetnuldi - make the resort an attractive destination for the tourists. The diversified environment for the skiers and unforgettable adventures are what they love.

The major negative side of Tetnuldi is that resort is 15 km away from Mestia, and it’s hard to go to the resort by taxi from that place every day as it takes a lot of money. There are no other transportation alternative opportunities. The ski lift malfunction is also possible at the resort, which often makes travelers wait in a queue or on the lifts.

The main advantages are the good quality of snow and a rich environment for freeriding. It’s possible to ski in the forest and on the extremely downward slopes as well. The snowfall is often at the resort. It often snows at the resort which creates a wonderful place for skiing. However, it’s necessary to know that the slopes of Tetnuldi are dangerous because of the avalanche. For a safety reason, it’s required to have the appropriate equipment for the potential avalanche.
