About Kazbegi National Park
Kazbegi National Park - located in Kazbegi municipality, Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, in the historical ravine on the northern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains. The total area of Kazbegi National Park is 9030 ha. Only 35% of the national park is covered by forest, while the rest is occupied by alpine ridges, moraines, ever-snow-capped peaks, and inaccessible cliffs. These cliffs and mountains are home to many rare and unique species of animals and birds. Kazbegi National Park is mountainous. Its lowest point is 1,400 meters above sea level.
There are many mountaineering sites of world importance in Kazbegi National Park, which are known for their complexity and beauty, notably the Georgian specialty - Gergeti Trinity. The region is also rich in many important monuments of historical Georgia, including many early and medieval churches, fortress-towers, settlements, etc. The customs and traditions of the locals are unique.
