Kolkheti National Park

Kolkheti National Park - a national park on the Black Sea coast, near Lake Paliastomi. It is bordered on the east by the river Etseri, on the south by the river Pichori.

The national park is located on the territory of 5 administrative districts - Zugdidi, Khobi, Senaki, Abasha, and Lanchkhuti and is part of two historical regions of Georgia - Samegrelo, and Guria.

The aim of the park is to protect the entire complex of relict wildlife and fauna characteristic of the Kolkheti Lowlands. The reserve has great scientific-research and historical significance. Different types of landscapes, individual ecosystems, and cenoses are represented here.

Its total area is 44308.5 ha, of which the sea area is 15276 ha.

Kolkheti National Park belongs to the IUSN Second Category of Protected Areas. It has been protected by the Ramsar Convention since 1997, an intergovernmental agreement aimed at protecting habitats for migratory, migratory, and waterfowl.

You can visit Kolkheti National Park at any time of the year. In the rivers, Churia and Pichori valleys, as well as on Paliastomi and Golden Lake, it is possible to plan boating and kayaking, and then you will be able to visit the Kolkheti forest and unique swamps. In Kolkheti National Park, observation towers are arranged to observe more than 100 different species of migratory birds.

Particularly interesting in the park are Lake Paliastomi, the Black Sea, unique swamps, and the Kolkheti forest. The administration of Kolkheti National Park offers visitors boat tours in Lake Paliastomi and the Phichori River Valley, as well as sport fishing, birdwatching, and eco-educational tours.

In the support zone of Kolkheti National Park, it is possible to visit various important historical and cultural monuments. Namely: Nokalakevi, Khobi Monastery, Dadiani Palace, Rukhi Fortress.
