Rokiti

It’s situated in Baghdati Municipality.It’s 10 km. from Baghdati.Village Rokiti is mentioned in the following sources:Vakhushti Bagrationi’s Description of Georgia.In the 16th-18th centuries, in Johan Guldenstedt’s book „ Travel to Georgia“ it was mentioned too. In 1684 King of Imereti Aleksandre IV defeated The governor of Guria Giorgi III. In the battle near Rokiti.

Rokiti Savior Transfiguration Church was built in 1666 by the Abkhaz Catholicos Simon Chkhetidze. The church is in the late feudal Savior Transfiguration, built in the name of the single-basilica. The southern and western facade of the temple is decorated with ornaments and inscriptions.
