The Church of the Evening is located in the Ninotsminda Municipality of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, along the Lake of the Evening, on the eastern shore, at an altitude of 1996 meters above sea level.
In the recent past, Lake of the Evening was also referred to as "Dumagioli". On the map of Vakhushti Bagrationi, the village of Duma is marked on the shore of Lake of the Evening.
There are three Georgian architectural monuments - three churches in the village. The earliest of them is the large hall church of the 10th century. To the south of the village is the Church of the Evening, an architectural monument of the 10th-13th centuries. It is better preserved than other churches. Its facades are decorated with carvings. Gray and pink stones alternate in the arrangement. Traces of Asomtavruli inscriptions can also be seen here.
The famous inscription of King David of Kings (1247-1270) from one of the stele of the lake in the evening tells us:
"May God exalt and establish David, the sovereign of all the East and the West, King of Kings"
