Hike on Gurgeniani Waterfall
About Hike on Gurgeniani Waterfall
Gurgeniani (Ninoskhevi) Waterfall is located in Lagodekhi National Park, where you can see rare specimens of local flora and fauna. This national park is the first reserve in Georgia, which was established in 1912. The 40-meter Gurgeniani Waterfall is one of the most beautiful sights in the park.
The route starts from the Gurgeniani Information Center and follows a narrow path through the Ninoskhevi river. The sound of the river, small waterfalls, huge stones and the cold breeze wandering in the valley, make the trip attractive and interesting. The length of the route is 9 km. In the ravine, we will meet lots of interesting plants: Lagodekhi gentian, Lagodekhi snowdrop, Julia's primrose, capers, phloem, chestnut, Georgian oak and others. Also, if we are lucky, we may run into a roe deer, a deer, or even a wild boar. In this regard, Lagodekhi Protected Areas are very rich.
Gurgeniani waterfall is 40 meters high and offers a genuinely beautiful view. Those who have the desire, can even rise to the top of the waterfall and watch from there how the river Ninoskhevi runs from a 40-meter rock. However, the path to the waterfall is not so easy for inexperienced hikers. You may have to cross the river several times along the way.
To be able to walk the trail comfortably, you need to wear sports clothes and flexible, sports shoes.
