Lagodekhi

Lagodekhi is a municipality located in the Kakheti region. It originated in an area with ancient history, which was at first the part of Caucasian Albania, then the pre-feudal Georgian state unit of Hereti, and then formed an independent feudal principality. Later it was part of the Kingdom of Kakheti-Hereti, and then became a part of united feudal Georgia together with the Kingdom of Kakheti. Lagodekhi is also known in the sources as Lagoeti, Lakuati and Lakuasti. It is first mentioned in sources in the VIII century. The leading sector of the district is agriculture, in particular: tobacco growing, production of grain and essential oil crops, viticulture, fruit growing, horticulture, animal husbandry. There are tobacco fermentation, wine, cheese-butter factories, other small enterprises. The Lagodekhi-Zakatala road passes through the territory of Lagodekhi. There are a secondary vocational school, libraries, a theater and a museum in the municipality. Lagodekhi is distinguished by the beauty of nature and important cultural monuments. On the territory of the municipality is Lagodekhi National Park, which is rich in diversity of flora and fauna, waterfalls, beautiful lakes and amazing views. Geography and Climate

Lagodekhi Municipality is located in eastern Georgia, in the Kakheti region. Its administrative center is the city of Lagodekhi. The municipality consists of administrative units of Lagodekhi, Matsami, Shroma, Ninigori, Tsodnikari, Vardisubani, Chiauri, Kartubani, Baisubani, Kabli, Foni, Giorgeti, Apeni, Areshperan and Leliani. Lagodekhi is bordered on the east by the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the west by the municipality of Kvareli, on the north by the Autonomous Republic of Dagestan, and on the south by the municipalities of Sighnaghi and Gurjaani. The area is rich in surface water and groundwater. The main hydrographic network is formed by the Alazani River, which flows on the border of Gurjaani and Sighnaghi municipalities. The rivers of Kabali, Matsimistskali, Lagodekhistskali, Areshi and Apeniskhevi are also noteworthy. The territory of the municipality is divided into parts of plains and mountains. The Alazani plain enters the southern part of the territory, while the northern part is spread on the southern slope of the Caucasus, which ends at the local lands. The Kakhetian part of the Caucasus mountains extends from the summit of Didi Borbalo to the summit of Tinovroso. Lagodekhi Municipality has a moderately humid subtropical climate with moderately cold winters and hot summers. The moderately humid climate is prevalent in the highlands, with cold winters and cool summers. The average annual temperature is 13 ° C.
