About Paravani Small Church

The small church of Paravani is located in Samtskhe-Javakheti, in the territory of the village of Paravani, Ninotsminda municipality. It was built in the 13th-14th centuries.

The small-sized church stands in the lower part of the village, southwest of Karvasli. It is built of cut stone. The horizontality of the structure is preserved. Relatively small stones are used in the lower rows. The entrance is from the south. The square door is finished with a plain architrave on the outside, and is arched on the inside. It has two windows: the east and the south, which is cut to the northeast of the door and seems to be lost in the facade. The facades are plain and the only feature is a cut cornice consisting of a circular pattern and a shaft. The roof is made of lorfin. In the interior, the temple has sharply drawn proportions. The semicircular apse is separated by a side. In the north aisle, at floor level, a base stone is set with a pit towards the altar. The conch rests on a triumphal arch supported by carved imposts. The walls are intact and a vault is supported on them. The temple is damaged: the southern corner of the western facade has collapsed, as well as the middle part of the northern wall, and the southern window opening.
